Atlanta's workshop was actually in Jasper, above the city in the cool mountains overlooking a lake.

weaving on the porch

At intros, we ooh & ahh over yarns...

But first we make frames:

Lunch break...

Each weaving has a unique
blend of yarns.

Julie, our hostess.

  The State Park at
White Springs is a great location for workshops. The Florida Folk Center offers working cottages, plus great views, trails, and the Suwanee River.

Measuring, cutting, pounding ... building the frame. It really didn't take very long and the best part is, the frame doesn't have to be finished to start the weaving.

This group had experienced weavers, and spinners with luscious blends of wools and novelty textures.
The lighter blue shawl shows the u-pattern that appears with a contrasting yarn.

When we started weaving,
it suddenly got very quiet.

Yea, we got quite a bit done!

July '09, our working space was the Ginny Room, off the Museum.
The columns lent a sculptural setting to our frames.

Morning was cool enough to work outside.
